Wineglass Bay Discovery Tours is a family owned and operated Tour Company based in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.
Established in 2017 we operate small group day tours from Hobart to the Freycinet National Park on Tasmania’s East coast with our highlight destination being Wineglass Bay. As a point of difference, at no extra cost our tour also incorporates a visit to the Historic Richmond Village in the beautiful Coal River Valley, home to the oldest convict built bridge still in use.
Owner, operator and guide Alex (Alessandro) was born in Sardinia, Italy, and has lived all over the world. Since moving to Tasmania in 2000, he has soaked up the culture and history of this unique island like a sponge. An experienced bushwalker and avid explorer, Alex fell in love with Tasmania, especially the Freycinet Peninsula. Its attractive coastline, pristine white beaches, clear turquois water and pink granite mountain ranges felt very much like his homeland of Sardinia. With his family, he spent many weekends exploring this area and enjoying all aspects of its natural appeal. With his deep passion and appreciation for Tasmania’s wild beauty Alex was inspired to create our tour company so that he could share what he knew and loved about the Tasmania’s East coast and the Freycinet Peninsula with others.
At Wineglass Bay Discovery Tours we aim to provide visitors with a tourism experience that is intimate enough to feel like a private tour but also friendly, fun and informative, with a relaxed itinerary allowing time to be fully immersed in the beautiful landscapes and locations we showcase. This small group experience allows visitors to experience Tasmania’s east coast and Freycinet National park from a passionate locals’ perspective.
You should know, however, that Alex isn’t your average tour guide. He adores meeting new people and makes fast friends with everyone he encounters. He’s less of a tour guide and more of an old friend living in Tasmania that you’ve come to visit.
